As the global industry leader in Artificial Lift Systems, Baker Hughes is looking for an advanced modeling and simulation engineer for its research and technology development team. The Advanced Modeling and Simulation Engineer, utilizes state-of-the-art simulations tools to develop & implement advanced analytical and numerical models to analyze cutting edge technology developments/problems for the Artificial Lift product line. 

The Engineer will support and lead R&D projects to push the boundaries of Artificial Lift Technology Systems and address critical gaps.  The Engineer with utilize available models, integrate various models, and develop advanced full system multi-physics models in the areas including but not limited to fluid mechanics, multiphase flows, heat transfer, mechanical systems etc., to answer technical questions to inform design and selection.

Responsibilities of Advanced Modeling Engineer:

  • Advance multi-physics full system model (use of digital twins; couple mechanical & electrical models)
  • Evaluate conventional design methodologies and develop system level tools to streamline analysis and develop screening methods to make available to broader team.
  • Utilize and integrate advanced analytical models and simulation tools to analyze new concepts and designs at system level.
  • Working closing with developers, identify opportunities to bridge applications modeling into physics-based analysis methods.
  • Interact with R&D function teams, simulation conditions, other Product Lines, Operations & Field Service teams.
  • Experimental validation including test design, coordinating testing with support staff, and data analysis using industry leading test facilities. 
  • Selection of appropriate analysis techniques and utilization of analysis tools to solve problems and make sound recommendations.
  • Act as the project manager for the R&D projects and be able to prepare estimated project timeline and budget.
  • Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments with appropriate abatement plans.
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Communicates across direct organization. Presents to senior leaders in specific technical space and on cross functional teams on how technologies interconnect and contribute to overall strategy.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, Chemical or other engineering degrees or higher, from an accredited college or university or applicable experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience w/ advanced modeling with strong competency in multi-physics modeling
  • Proficient knowledge in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Thermal Modeling, Multiphase flows, Conjugate Heat Transfer, Expertise with customization of different modeling & analysis packages, Ansys preferred (Fluent, CFX, IcePak, Twin Builder).
  • Experience in designing and/or utilizing advanced experimental facilities and data processing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    Intermediate proficiency in programming (C or MATLAB or Simulink, or Python)
